Calling all Coffee Lovers | Littles Review

A coffee a day keeps the dr away? I’m sure I read that somewhere once! I can’t start my day without a coffee so what better way that a beautifully flavoured coffee that is 2 cals per cup and syn free if you are on slimming world.

Did you know that coffee can help in your diet?

According to this piece on the NHS “coffee can make you live longer” and “Drinking three to five cups of coffee a day could help people live longer, new research has found,” The Independent reports.

It goes on to say that the study cannot prove cause or effect and that people who drink five cups of coffee a day are no more likely to have died. There are stats and numbers on that article if you like that sort of thing, so go check it out.

I‘m not claiming miracles here but the fact that you CAN enjoy coffee without the worries that are displayed in he media make me a happy bunny.

Little’s are a small independent company that truly deliver on their products. Being low cal, syn free and no added sugar, they take pride in creating coffee for everyone. Even down to the advertising and product design, compared to large brands they’re stealing the show ❤️

These are the flavours I have tried;

  • Island Coconut
  • Rich hazelnut
  • Spicy cardamom
  • French Vanilla
  • Swiss chocolate
  • Maple walnut

With each coffee I got a taste for the time of day I liked it. I prefer different types of coffee throughout the day, maybe that’s the coffee snob in me or I just like varied flavours, you decide 😉 but for me in the morning I loved French Vanilla, it is a light and refreshing coffee and sets me up for the day. In the evening I loved having Maple Walnut or Swiss Chocolate. Maple walnut has an amazing nut aroma whereas Swiss chocolate with almond milk, tasted like chocolate so it gave me my sweet fix without using syns. I found if I didn’t use milk you couldn’t taste the chocolate, it was more like a rich black coffee.

What I love is my diet has changed slightly and I am following the fodmap diet and mixing it with slimming world. The fodmap diet is for IBS and you are basically gluten and dairy free by I’m going to explain it in another post. So there’s a lot of foods limited, including some coffees but what I find is fantastic, Little’s coffee is completely fodmap safe, so I am over the moon with that! I can still enjoy my favourite coffee without worrying.

Now I have finished all my coffee, it feels like I have went through it really quickly but I do love my coffee ☕️💜.

Low syn Baked Oats | Slimming World

I haven’t made baked oats in a while and I missed them. So I made a video which is live on YouTube and you can view it by clicking here.

These baked oats are 4 syns for both, using your hexb & part hexa. Great for breakfast or evening snack, they taste so naughty and it feels like you’re having a nice treat for little syns.

What you will need:

  • 35g oats (hexb)
  • 50mls of skimmed milk ( 1.5 syns per 100ml so I would say 1 syn or take the amount from your hexa) *
  • 1 egg (protein)
  • 2 caps of Salted Caramel extract or a flavouring of your choice (free)
  • 1 tsp of sweetener
  • Nutella (4 syns per level tbsp)
  • Muffin tray
  • 2 silicone cases

Preheat your oven to 180 degrees

Measure your 35g oats and put in a jug with your milk and stir. Then add in your egg and mix throughly. Then add your sweetner and flavouring of your choice. Combine all together.

Place your silicone cases onto your muffin tray or tray, then pour in the mixture.

Using a measuring spoon, take one tbsp of Nutella and plop half into each of the muffin mixture.

Now you can lick the spoon 😋

Put into your oven on 180 for 20-25 mins. Then leave to cool for 3-5 mins.

Then pop them out and enjoy as they are or decorate it with Sweet Freedom chocshot.

Serve with some speed food and yogurt, or if you’re having an SP day have some quark.

These muffins are perfect for an SP day because it used milk and not yogurt.

If you make them be sure to let me know here, YouTube or tag me on Instagram as I’d love to see.

I hope you enjoy x

Low syn chocolate waffles (slimming world)

Preheat your over to 180 degrees.

You need:

  • Blender
  • Silicone waffle mould
  • 2 x Weetabix (hexb)
  • 2 Eggs (protein)
  • 1 cap full of Salted caramel (free)
  • 1/2 Mullerlight Toffee (free)
  • 1 tsp (1/2 syn) Sweet Freedom Choc shot
  • 1tbsp (4 syns) Nutella
  • Banana (to top)

Put the weetabix in a blender and blend into a fine powder. Then add the sweetner, eggs and extract, then blend together. Once combined add the muller light and Sweet Freedom Choc shot then blitz all together.

Spray the mould with frylight, you don’t have to but I just find it easier to pop them out. Now pour the mixture into the silicone mould. I put my mould onto tray before pouring, so it would save any spillage or accidents when moving to the oven (if you are anything like me I usually spill one thing a day 😂)

The oven will be on 180 degrees and bake for 30 mins.

Once baked, lift them out and place a plate on top, flip upside down and they should fall out from the mould easily.

Place slices of banana around the waffles and top with Nutella.

Tada you are done. I hope you enjoy x

ShakeSphere V2 (review)

Hey guys!

So if you have been keeping up with my YouTube channel and weight loss journey you will know I have kicked up my exercise. Since my time is more limited, I am always on the look out for products/gadgets to make life easier.

I am also starting to look into protein powders as after a workout I don’t want to eat and we all need protein to help repair our muscles.

I’ve seen so many bottles on the market, cheap to buy, includes a mixing ball and the reviews are ok, mainly used as throw away bottles. I didn’t want any of that and with further research I found ShakeSphere!

ShakeSphere is different than other bottles I have found. It has a spherical inside so no corners for food to stick in to; such a plus! I know with my smoothie bottles I’ve not washed them right away then it’s been a nightmare to clean; now don’t go yuck, you know you’ve been there 😉😅 with no corners you can clean it easily!

You can make a banana smoothie without the need for a smoothie maker. Perfect for those on-the-go or those short on time. You can make an omelette, fair enough it isn’t the prettiest thing, but because the bottle is microwave safe it’s so handy to use. I don’t like reheating egg so being able to have an omelette at work and only need one bottle is fab!

You get a wee keyring with some recipes but there’s a lot of different videos on the ShakeSphere website and YouTube channel, so be sure to check them out!

I love that the top of the bottle is so easy to drink out of, it has a sliding cap and is leak proof.

I’ve been using it for water infused with cucumber while out walking and on the treadmill, ah refreshing! It holds 700mls and it has measurements on the side, which is such a must these days when you are tracking food and liquids.

It has a section for pills, you can put your pre-work out in, BCAA’s, vitamins or pain killers. I currently use the space for my vitamin d and iron tablets.

I was so excited to find a snack pot at the bottom. Perfect for protein powder, nuts or peanut butter. I also use the bottle to carry my fruit in the main part and put peanut butter in the snack bottom to dip my apple into.

Tip: if you cut up your Apple, drop some lemon juice onto it and it will stop it from turning brown.

The ShakeSphere V2 is BPA free. It comes in a range of colours, but of course I wanted the pink one! It can be stored in the freezer, fridge, used in the microwave and it’s dish washer safe; all kinds of awesome!

Final Thoughts

I really love this bottle, yes LOVE! I haven’t had any problems, no leaks and it lives up to everything it promises. There’s nothing I don’t like but if I was being super picky, and trust me this is, at the bottom where you put your pills in, the plastic rotates around, maybe if there was a way to make the inside turn instead like a wheel and the outer stayed in contact.

It has great features, the colour is fantastic and it is leak proof, there isn’t much else you can ask from the ShakeSphere V2.

So if you like the sound of the ShakeSphere V2 then pop over to their website to check out more info and videos.

The ShakeSphere V2 is £11.99 and if you use the code JULIE10 you’ll get a 10% discount ❤

Sweet Freedom (Review)

Do you ever find a staple product and always have to have it? Well thats how I feel with Sweet Freedom products. If you have been following my blog you know I am following Slimming World and being a chocolate and honey lover well that makes it difficult, until I found Sweet Freedom. For each of their products it is only 1/2 syn per level teaspoon!! Yes you read that right!

Sweet Freedom has 5 different products;

I use the syrup (which tastes like honey/maple syrup) in my over night oats, pancakes, baked oats, over fruit and nuts. The choc shot I use over ice cream, fruit, pancakes, baked oats, to bake with and a hot chocolate! The hot chocolate is so good when it’s made with Choc shot and Almond unsweetened milk!

I was so surprised by the taste of the syrup, it is a beautiful and thick syrup. I was worried that it wouldn’t be thick because it is so low calorie and vegan friendly, but it is! Heavenly! The same applies for the Choc shot, it is thick and has a gorgeous taste. I have raved about it that much in my Slimming World group around 50 members have bought it in the last few weeks, as we have our own group page and I always share my baked breakfast which all have Sweet Freedom products used in them.

Each product for me serves a different purpose depending what I am in the mood for. Recently I was inspired by the Slimming World HiFi macaroon bars and made Chocolate macaroon baked oats, where I used the Choc shot coconut which worked a dream.

Chocolate Macaroon Baked Oats (5 syns)

When I fancy a Terry’s chocolate orange the Choc shot orange spice hits the spot! I bake with it then add some over the top, delicious!!

Chocolate orange weetabix (5 syns)

The syrups are perfect for pancakes and waffles, yum! I am getting hungry just thinking about those. Waffles are my new obsession and the syrups are like the icing on the cake.

The things you can make with Sweet Freedom products are amazing. If you check out their Instagram and website you’ll be blown away by the range of recipes and how other people are using the products ever day. The fact it’s low calorie and a vegan product, makes it top marks! It is a staple that I could not be without, I use it almost everyday and replace it every few weeks!

You can purchase Sweet Freedom products from Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Boots and many other stores, which you can find here.

COMPETITION to Win the set of Freedom Freedom product ends 30th September 2016.

A little stop motion I created:

Spiralized Courgette Stirfry | using Oxo Spiralizer

The perfect dish for a light but filling lunch. Lightly spiced with cayenne pepper, did you know that cayenne pepper can help boost metabolism? Every little helps right?

I am always looking for ways to have a filling lunch with protein and nutritious vegetables.

I love the Oxo spiralizer, it makes it so easy to turn your normal courgette into courgettie, easing your craving for noodles and knowing you’re replacing it with something really good for you. It is so easy to use and quite fun! A separate review will be up soon but for now let’s talk food.

A few items that are cupboard and fridge staples will make this dish, remember you can add or exchange foods you would prefer and you can’t really go wrong.

Spiralized courgettie stirfry

Prep time 5 mins – Total time 10-15 mins

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 1 medium courgette
  • 1/4 red onion
  • 5 mushrooms
  • 2 bacon medallions chopped

Seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of mixed herbs
  • 1 garlic clove

Directions

Start by heating up your pan on a low heat, spray with sunflower frylight or use a butter/oil of your choice.

Fry of the red onion, once it starts to slightly soften add in your mushrooms, garlic and then your chopped up bacon medallions.

Spiralise your courgette using the spaghetti blade. Once this is done add it straight to the pan.

Add in the cayenne pepper, herbs and salt. Cook until ready. Times vary depending on how you like your bacon.

Enjoy!

Notes:

To spice it up more add in some chilli flakes. You can add more veg like bean sprouts and peppers. As you see I added some beetroot and gherkins on the side with a nice refreshing drink.

Low syn coconut macaroon baked oats | Just Julie Bakes (slimming world)

Low syn coconut macaroon baked oats.

Inspired by the new coconut macaroon Slimming world HiFi bars.

You need:

  • 2 Silicone muffin cases
  • Muffin tray
  • 35g oats (hexb)
  • 50mls of skimmed milk ( 1.5 syns per 100ml so I would say 1 syn or take the amount from your hexa) *
  • 1 tsp of Sweetner
  • 1 Egg (protein)
  • 1 cap full of Salted caramel or vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp (1/2 syn) Sweet Freedom Choc shot coconut
  • 1/2 of a Slimming world coconut macaroon hifi bar (1.5 syns for half the bar)

Preheat your oven to 180 degrees

Measure your 35g oats and put in a jug with your milk and stir. Then add in your egg and mix throughly. Then add your sweetner and flavouring of your choice. Combine all together.

Place your silicone cases onto your muffin tray or tray, then pour in the mixture.

You then have half of a HiFi bar, half that bar again and put one half into each case. The bar melted and oozes through the baked oats, so good! 😍

Put into your oven on 180 for 20-25 mins. Then leave to cool for 3-5 mins.

Then pop them out and enjoy as they are or decorate it with Sweet Freedom chocshot coconut. Serve with some speed food and yogurt, or if you’re having an SP day have some quark.

Hint – These muffins are perfect for an SP day because it used milk and not yogurt.

If you make them be sure to let me know here, YouTube or tag me on Instagram as I’d love to see.

I hope you enjoy x

Breakfast chocolate waffle recipe (slimming world)

Hey guys!

After putting my breakfast waffles on Instagram last week, I’ve been asked for the recipe lots and that makes me excited that I want to try more things as I love sharing these with you.

I love waffles but the syn value is shocking, so since I’ve gotten my baked oats and such down to a fine art 😜 I decided to use the same recipe but use a waffle mould instead. I got mine from Amazon.

What will you need;

  • Waffle mould
  • Blender
  • 2 weetabix (hexb)
  • 2 eggs (protein)
  • 1/2 muller light vanilla (free)
  • Vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp Sweet Freedom Choc Shot (1/2 syn)

Blitz the weetabix down to a fine powder, then add the sweetner, eggs, blitz again. Then add the yogurt, vanilla extract and Sweet Freedom Choc Shot; mix one last time.

Then spoon the mixture into the waffle mould and put in the oven at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Serve with fruit (free or speed) of your choice. I decided to add some quark which is free (depending on brand). I drizzled Sweet Freedom Syrup (dark) over the top as it has that gorgeous honey taste with out the high syns. ( 1/2 per level tsp).

I hope you enjoy! X
